Black and white photograph of Orchard family and Leggatt family outside of "TheTwo Orphans" cottage at Grimsby Beach. The cottage is in the background. The photograph is enclosed in a grey and brown mat board. On the back is a newspaper clipping. "GRIMSBY PARK HISTORY" Grimsby Beach, Aug. 16- An interesting baptismal service took place at the summer home of Mrs. R. M. Orchard on August 11, when her great-grandchild, Mary Susan Leggatt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Leggatt, of London was baptized by Rev. A. C. Eddy, B.D.. A unique feature of the event is that the little grandchild is of the fifth generation of the Orchard family residing at Grimsby park - John Orchard and Richard C. Orchard, of Brantford having been succeeded by Richard C. Orchard of St. John, N.B., and Frances Orchard Leggatt, of London. Mrs. Orchard's cottage, The Two Orphans, was the second cottage to be built on the lake front. It was erected by Richard M. Orchard and James Shenstone, of Brantford, in 1866. Mrs. Orchard, the present occupant is spending her fifty-fourth season in the park. Written in ink on back "Orchard Cottage Built 1866 2nd cotage to be built on Lake front" The deed of gift donation form references this cottage as "Parkwood Cottage" |
