Description |
Wedding dress c 1910. Heavy oyster satin wedding dress, but renovated to wear for evening and is now in two pieces. Made into evening dress in Edmonton, Alberta. (a) Skirt is gored, with overlaping panel in front. Has back opening with 4 press studs and 2 sets of hooks and eyes. Satin is cut in parts. Measures 38 1/4" in length and 11 1/2" at waist. (b) Bodice has wide band at waist. Sleeves are 3/4" length with fluted cuff. Two wide panels go over the shoulder from front waist to back waist overlapping at shoulder which has a satin covered button affixed. Panels of lace at front and back of neck are embroidered with beads and pearl beads with pearls down each front panel. Bodice is lined with cream silk and is boned at waist. It is fastened at left side of back with hooks and eyes. Dress is torn at underarms, satin, cut in places and some bead and pearl decoration is missing. Measures Shoulder to waist, 19 1/2", waist 13" wide, sleeves 18" in length. Originally owned by Miss Florence Manson, mother of donor, Nov. 1910 . |
